Advocacy Committee

The Advocacy Committee encourages local, state, and federal governments to adopt sustainable design and development through regulation, program incentives, and green projects. The Committee ensures that the USGBC-OK Chapter is viewed as the local authority on green building. The Committee strives to leverage the resources and influence of the U.S. Green Building Council to educate and advocate for state and local government regulatory authorities to adopt sustainable building principles, policies, and programs.

The Advocacy Committee is tasked with institutionalizing sustainable design and development through regulation, program incentives, and green projects. The Committee promotes the Chapter and USGBC as the Oklahoma authority on green resources, thereby promoting the USGBC LEED rating system for all construction projects. National USGBC supports individual chapter advocacy through their Advocacy Initiatives and the Regional Advocacy Representative. Information on how to receive national support to develop state and local advocacy programs can be found in the 2009 Initiatives for Chapters Executive Summary located on the USGBC Oklahoma Extranet Site.
